I hadn’t seen Dr Mark Jefferies for about 18 months after moving to a different area, so I ended up seeing another GP for a while. Yesterday was my first time back at Surface Paradise Medical Centre, and it reminded me exactly why Dr Jefferies is truly one of the best doctors on the Gold Coast.
The level of care he gives is exceptional. He’s incredibly thorough, motivated, and proactive. He doesn’t just rush through an appointment — he listens, explains everything clearly, and makes sure you walk out with a plan that actually makes sense. The referrals he provides are always targeted at the best possible outcome, and he considers affordability too, often directing you toward specialists or testing options that are bulkbilled or Medicare-friendly where possible.
I honestly forgot how reassuring it feels to have a GP who genuinely cares and goes above and beyond. I’m so grateful to be back under his care. Highly, highly recommend Dr Jefferies to anyone looking for a doctor who is knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly invested in your wellbeing.

My partner has been seeing Mark for over a decade BC of his empathy, time and energy. She brought him to see him due to some personal issues I was experiencing. He was very understanding and took the time to suggest my options to battle these inner demons. Whilst some of the options tried weren't great success stories, eventually he managed to make me feel quite calm n relaxed and able to work through some addictions.

Been going here for YEARS and now when I want a FREE flu shot they want $90 for a new doctor to see me at the SAME clinic! Staff were very rude, dismissive, not interested in answering any questions and then hung up as she said - "I don't have time for this". I was not rude in any way in asking my questions but they would not answer what the extra $90 was paying for. Outrageous that people are treated like numbers with little to no care. I guess when it comes to a FREE flu shot it's NOT in any way free. Will NOT be going back when I'm treated like that and it's irrelevant what the response is as this is my honest opinion of this clinic.

I am a visitor to the Gold Coast and injured my hand just after arriving at the hotel. After some first aid by staff, we all agreed that it should be checked by a doctor. This was the closest medical centre, and I popped in and explained my situation. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and said that they could fit me in, but it was $90 upfront with about $42 back from Medicare. I had to fill out some paperwork but only had a short wait. I saw Dr John Wilson, who greeted me with a smile, listened to what had happened and did a quick, but thorough examination. He recommended an xray to be safe. He was very professional and friendly at the same time. He also was comfortable working with an Auslan interpreter, as I am Deaf and it's rare to find anyone who is so comfortable with the interpreter. This would be a great practice for residents in the area. They were especially nice and helpful to an accident prone tourist in need. Thank you for the great service.
