The room is incredible and the decor is stunning. The breakfast was very, very good, and the pool area is cool though didn't get as much access to sun throughout the day as I might have expected. The staff are attentive though the cleaning staff failed to make our bed after our first night which is a bit annoying. Also a bit out the way now that broad beach is more the place to be, but also means it isn't crawling with people at night so pros and cons! Would go again.

I recently stayed at Imperial Hotel, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Despite being an older hotel, the staff were incredibly attentive and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived.
Check-in was smooth, and one of the highlights of my stay was the breakfast buffet – it was simply outstanding. The variety of options, the quality of the food, and the friendly service made it a great start to my day.

The hotel is very beautiful, but at the same time very old. The lobby and restaurant are excellent. The breakfast is good and complete, and everything is fresh. However, the bed mattresses are so old and damaged that we stayed for 4 nights and ended up throwing a blanket on the floor and sleeping because my back hurts so much. I hope the management will replace the mattresses because they are not suitable for rest and sleep at all.

Do not stay here as the safety of guests is not a priority for the owners.
This morning, (New Year's Day) a fire alarm went off just before 0500h on level 4.
We evacuated from the fourth floor to the assembly point. There was no hotel fire warden, no hotel first aid, no confirmation of guest numbers (roll call) and no representative from the hotel to communicate information to guests. We stood out the front on the road until a security guard turned the alarm panel off. Emergency services did not attend.
There was no liaison with guests who stood on the road to advise that the hotel was safe to re-enter, but an announcement was made inside the hotel to guests that ignored the alarm and stayed in their rooms.
There was no night manager, general manager or front office manager to control the evacuation, manage guest safety or ensure compliance with their own procedures.
In 2025, this is an appalling situation with the hotel not complying with their own evacuation procedures to ensure the safety of guests.
After speaking with the representative of the owner this morning, they have no idea how to run a hotel and sacrifice guest safety for reduced operating expense.
It is not good enough that safety is not the priority.
** This is not a reflection of the staff of the hotel who were present or the lone security guard that was doing his best. This is a reflection on the lack of leadership in the Imperial Hotel and their attitude to safety of guests.

We stayed at the imperial hotel for 5 nights and had an enjoyable, relaxing experience. Our room was ready early as requested. Reading alot of these other reviews I think people enjoy complaining.
The buffet breakfast was incredible and as was the seafood buffet. The pool was lovely and the little sandpit area is great for kids.
The only thing I would mention is the $500 bond for 5 nights was a little bit steep. We checked out 3 weeks ago and had to call up yesterday to have our bond released because they must have forgotten.
