Budget hotel room with a champagne price tag. This is the kind of hotel people stay at to make themselves feel good about themselves by saying they stayed there when in reality the only fancy part about it is the name and the lobby.
We honestly felt the only redeeming part of this place was the pool.
When we checked in we were told we would get a message when the room was ready - they never sent the message. When I went to inquire again the same host had forgotten she had even started checking me in, despite the fact that she had brought her manager out earlier to “meet and greet us” which felt like an attempt to sign us up to a time share information session.
We also had to call and request to receive our luggage as they never brought it up.
We unfortunately booked the vacation club instead of the main Marriott hotel and what a mistake that was. The mattress was the same quality you’d expect from an entry level fantastic furniture mattress, the room was dark and looked nothing like the pictures, and the cupboard doors weren’t even hung at the same heights.
There seems to be a lot of staff hanging around doing not much. We went down to get drinks and ordered 2 straight whiskies that took over 20 minutes to arrive while the women behind the bar stood around talking to each other.
When house keeping came around while we were out they picked up our dirty underwear we had in pile separate from our clean luggage and put them on the sink which we found really disturbing as we’ve never had that happen anywhere we have stayed.
We’ve vacationed at an array of hotels from the fanciest places money can buy all the way through to budget big 4 resorts, and this was by far the worst experience we’ve had.
With SO many other options on the Gold Coast we will never come back here.

Our stay was pleasant, but not fabulous. So for those wondering the difference between vacation club and Marriott it’s self not much is the answer, the vacation club is in the same building situated between floors 15 and 20. The room size was okay but not much room once we pulled out the sofa bed and there was no where to put the table once it was out, the pillows were extremely soft too! The bathroom was fab great big shower and bathtub, lots of amenities in the room cutlery glasses plates full size fridge and small dishwasher. The pool needs a good do over there were chipped tiles and the fish pool was very dirty even cups at the bottom of the pool when you’re snorkelling. You need to book somewhere to eat otherwise you will not get in anywhere we tried to book at lunchtime but couldn’t get in. Breakfast was good big selection but on the pricey side.

This place is such a vibe. Lovely staff, friendly, helpful and attentive. Got the room facing the ocean and it’s large, beautiful. The lagoon feels like a private beach with a pool that feels more like a mini man-made beach and a heated pool on the other side. Such a vibe.

Although the Jw marriot hotel is excellent in terms of cleanliness and facilities, unfortunately, it is associated with a very problematic system called the “Vacation Club,” which severely damages the reputation of this hotel brand.
The salespeople working for this club are trained to deceive guests with completely false promises, which they later deny or use as a means to take advantage of people.
We had a very negative experience with this club on the Gold Coast, and I sincerely hope the hotel brand owners take greater oversight of how this club operates before it causes further harm to their reputation.
It’s truly disappointing.

Staff were all exceedingly friendly and helpful. All requests were dealt with quickly. Rooms were clean, as were all the amenities throughout the resort. Pool area is absolutely fantastic, as was the poolside service. Would highly recommend and will visit again!
