“Wednesday Steak Night” at Klein’s lived up to all the hype we had heard. We really enjoyed the Rump served on a steaming iron plate along with chips, salad and gravy. Great value meal, pleasant staff and ice cold beer. We’ll be back for sure!

Monday 8/7/2024. Ordered the special - Roast Beef n gravy + chips $15.95 and also Eggs Benedict $21.95. When the food came out the Roast Beef meal covered the plate and seemed to match expectations. The Eggs Benny by comparison was a shocker. A single small slice of sourdough (maybe 12cm x 6cm) with 2 eggs placed onto the top of all the other ingredients. Nothing overhanging the edge of the bread aside from the sauce. It was embarrassingly small on the medium sized plate. I asked the waitress if that was it, she had a long stare at the plate, then apologised but said that's it, then walked away. I then had to go and ask for cutlery as none was served with the meals. I stewed for a short while then asked another waitress who came and looked, again apologised at the lack of serving size and walked away. I stewed some more, then I asked for the manager. He (the cook not a chef), came out and declared that $21.95 for eggs benny is average price and that I need to "get out more often", and to "get over myself". He then agreed to refund the meals and we went elsewhere.
We ended up at RELISH at HomeWorld in Helensvale. Where for $19.50 we were served more food than we could eat. 2 slices of sourdough smothered in toppings, ( 2 x halloumi, hash brown, 2 eggs, bacon, dried tomatoes etc) more than twice the serving of the Kleins 'token' meal. See the attached image of the RELISH meal as an example of what you 'should' expect.
Kleins Eggs Benny was so small it could all be picked up on the single small piece of sourdough toast and eaten like a finger of toast. Needless to say I wont be back and will tell my cycling friends to avoid Kliens if they want anything more than coffee.

I’m still laughing over some of the reviews on the Klein’s website Gary. My wife and I are newbies to Runaway Bay having only downsize from Brisbane 12 months ago.
Your establishment is what we describe as a “Hidden Gems” The cuisine on offer includes the locals favourite Wednesday’s Steak Night and Thursday’s Roast Night. Follow by Friday Night’s Happy Hour where beer on tap and house wine are on Happy Hour prices and free snacks.
Not forgetting the daily blackboard menu specials where on one occasion I had n amazing lamb chops with veg. And on another day when my wife felt like a nice steak, you the owner cooked her a Waygu Rump steak that she said was as good as any steak we ever had in other fancy restaurants.
And then there’s the “ to die for” pancakes with cream, ice cream and berries, “small” breakfast with 2 eggs, bacon, toast and sausage patty for $9.90 and my favourite Warm beef (Porterhouse) salad on your Al La Carte menu to name a few.
And I mustn’t forget to mention the super friendly kitchen and waiting staff working for you.
Now going back to customers who penned some of the unflattering comments, they simply don’t get it. As the restauranteurs of “Old” you continue the tradition of interacting with your regulars but with an Australian twist. I can’t imagine you talking to customers you don’t know the way we talked. We both give as much as we take. That’s the Aussie way without being pretentious and your regulars love it.

If you're vegan, avoid. A few options but they're lacklustre. There's a quesadilla that's full of eggplant and sundried tomatoes(??) and it didn't agree even a little bit... The vibe inside seemed a little bit shootin' and fishin' with some union busting plaques and LNP propaganda. Our non vegan compatriots seemed to enjoy themselves, but we won't be returning.
