This is a dirty, ill-kept, badly-maintained and depressing flop house with nothing to commend it. The location is OK and there is parking, but that’s about it. The bathrooms are often dirty and while we were there, towel rails fell off the wall. The kitchen is awful and didn’t sit on the chairs and sofas as they looked old and filthy.
I killed a few cockroaches.
Internet access is almost non-existent - don’t bother with the wi-fi.
I used the free washing machine but it left grey stains on my light-coloured clothing.
The bunks aren’t secured so it’s a wonder they don’t fall over. They have to be dangerous. All the curtains I saw had holes in them. I saw staff sweep the rooms (a bit) but I wondered if they were ever mopped.
The manager is very nice…
but her assistant (Alison?) hardly speaks English, so if you have a problem while she’s on duty, you have no hope of reaching a solution. Alison is quite rude and doesn’t like talking to guests, it seems.
In any case, neither of them knock before entering into the rooms, so there’s no real privacy (and it’s a complete lack of manners).

Spent an amazing 7 weeks here, absolutely lovely people, rooms, lounge areas, outside area and kitchen and so close to the tram station. Felt like home away from home, definitely recommend homely inn :)

Discrimination against people with tattoos, is sad. Having tattoos does not reflect one’s characteristics. Maybe teach your staff to show more respect.

Avoid this place at all costs. Discrimination at its finest. I think council, QCAT and ACCC owe this place a visit as the place and staff are definitely not upto standards. Absolute filth. Do better. Treat your customers paying you better.

The two international receptionists on arrival were very rude and was at one point racist towards me for being English. Refused an ID of mine for no reason and left me to sleep rough for the night. As the conversation continued he became very aggressive and tried to intimidate me. This is not a nice hostel, the whole place was dirty and smelly.
